Seongju Lee
I am a veterinarian and reproductive biologist at Jeonbuk National University, working on animal reproduction, gene editing, and translational models for xenotransplantation.
My work is shaped by a simple conviction: a life’s work is measured by the lives it helps hold. That belief draws me toward research that can move from animal models to patients, farms, and shared environments.
I am especially interested in three bridges: xenotransplantation for patients waiting for organs, reproductive biotechnology for more resilient animal systems, and conservation-minded science for a changing climate.
In 2028, I begin medical school. I want to carry veterinary training, bench research, and clinical medicine into one continuous practice.
Training as a veterinarian
Built the clinical and biological foundation for working across animal health and biomedical research.
Reproduction and xenotransplantation research
Studied porcine reproduction, semen cryopreservation, and multiplex gene-edited animal models through MS and PhD training.
Consolidating translational work
Completing the PhD arc while developing VETFI, writing, and a public research record around bench-to-bedside questions.
Medical school
Beginning clinical training to walk the distance between bench and bedside in person.
