Seongju Lee
I am a veterinarian and postdoctoral researcher at the Biosafety Research Institute, Jeonbuk National University, trained in veterinary obstetrics, theriogenology, and reproductive biotechnology.
My research focuses on porcine oocyte and embryo biology, in vitro maturation, semen cryopreservation, CRISPR/dCas9-TET1 epigenetic editing, genome-edited animal models, and translational large-animal research.
The center of my work is the bridge between veterinary science and human medicine: using careful animal research to ask clinically meaningful questions before they reach patients.
I have been admitted to medical school and will matriculate in 2028. Rather than preparing for admission, I am using the intervening years to consolidate my PhD research, postdoctoral work, and public-facing veterinary projects into a coherent physician-scientist path.
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
Completed professional veterinary medical training at Jeonbuk National University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Integrated MS/PhD in Veterinary Obstetrics
Studied porcine reproductive biotechnology and CRISPR/Cas9-TET1-mediated epigenetic editing in cumulus-oocyte complexes.
Postdoctoral research
Conducting research on reproductive medicine, genome editing, and large-animal models of human disease at JBNU Biosafety Research Institute.
Medical school
Matriculating to medical school to carry veterinary training, bench research, and clinical medicine into one continuous practice.
